Description

Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon; 7% Merlot.

Mouton has superb terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon and this wine proves it (while being monolithic and currently hard to read). There is a sense of powerful gravitational forces holding all the components in a tight orbit. There is tremendous density and intensity here, and hardly a chink of light to be seen. Simultaneously, nothing feels out of place. The tannins are huge but somehow suave. The fruit profile may be submerged under mineral notes of graphite, granite and coffee bean, there is no doubt that they will eventually emerge. This is a huge Mouton, with a bit more attack than 2022. If its trajectory is confirmed, it will be a great wine.
