2022 St Aubin, En Remilly, 1er Cru, Domaine de Montille, Burgundy

Description

This is arguably St Aubin’s best vineyard, but it is not homogenous. The top section on the plateau can suffer in warm vintages, but De Montille’s vines are lower down, on deeper soil. This is always picked early in the harvest to avoid any tropical notes to the fruit. There is instead ripe citrus, along with a chalky, mouthwatering freshness.

Pale lemon yellow. Very primary fermentation aromas. Fresh apples, then a raft of ripe white fruit even with some sucrosity, adequate acidity behind.
