Description

Pitures is François’s only Volnay from the north of the village. It’s a higher vineyard close to Pommard and stylistically very different; François refers to it as a distant cousin. When tasting the range, it appears after the Caillerets because of its minerality. The terroir is well defined, almost stern but not lacking depth. There’s plenty of red fruit on the finish. Drink 2025-2035

More the purple side of crimson. A wealth of cherry-raspberry red fruit. More structure and less delicacy than most in Volnay, explained by the vineyard’s proximity to Pommard.
