Description

This comes from the more southern end of the appellation, and a later-ripening site (due to the dark clay), which also adds a slightly earthy note of iron. David has been working hard in this vineyard to get the old vines properly into balance; 2020 was when he could start to see the results. This year’s offering is very stylish, with a lovely fresh zip to the finish. Drink 2025-2032.

I thought the vinification might be all whole bunch and no sulphur, but it is not. What’s with the white pepper bouquet, then? It was very reductive in the fermentation vat and had to be aired repeatedly, but has cleaned up wonderfully over the last two months, thinks David.
