2020 Moulin-à-Vent, Aux Caves, Louis Boillot, Beaujolais

Description

The 2020 Moulin-à-Vent Caves comes from 70-year-old vines. Among Boillot's cuvéesm, this has the most concentration on the nose with black cherries, violet and boysenberry scents and just a hint of fresh dates coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, with more structure than the La Rochelle with a vibrant finish. Superb.

Jasper Morris MW 90-92/100
Darker centre to the colour and a deeper nose, all in the sweet fruit of the vintage. This is quite a complete expression from 80+-year-old vines, which give very small berries and structure, but the fruit takes prominence. Some chocolate touchesJasper Morris MW, InsideBurgundy.com (November 2021)
