Pierre Gauthier’s Jour de Soif is not the traditional Bourgueil you can expect; it is meant to be a go-to easy-drinking, juicy, and crunchy light red wine, perfect for an aperitif or a hot summer’s day! The 2020 is exactly that. The nose boasts fresh black and red cherries, strawberry jam, and raspberry. The palate has lovely notes of crunchy red fruit and crushed stones, enhancing the freshness and juicy and smooth tannins. One to drink now without moderation!

Bourgueil

Bourgueil is a qualitatively-important, dry red wine appellation in Touraine, if quantitatively small at 1,500 hectares. Located west of Tours, its vineyards are planted with Cabernet Franc on calcareous clay and sandy soils gently inclined towards the River Loire. The wines are medium to full-bodied, possessing rich, perfumed raspberry and forest-fruit characters underpinned by a fine structure.
