Description

Tucked away in a cool spot behind the hill of Corton, the village of Pernand-Vergelesses is gaining attention for the freshness and affordability of its wines. This wine comes from the upper (village-quality) part of the Caradeux vineyard. The vines here face east and are located immediately beneath the forest, a combination which provides welcome shade from the warm afternoon sun. The result is a wine with fresh and vibrant citrus fruit, underpinned by a sizzling acidity and rounded out with a subtle, toasty oak finish.

Pernand-Vergelesses is a beautiful village tucked away behind the hill of Corton, and an excellent source for fine Burgundy at a relatively affordable price. Jadot have registered their own name, Le Clos de la Croix de Pierre, in a vineyard that faces the mighty hill. The lower part of the slope is an excellent site for Pinot Noir, while whites are grown on lighter soils higher up.
