Description

From a cool vineyard towards the top of an east-facing slope, this is fresh and mineral. The elevated position ensures it performs well in warm vintages and is picked towards the end as it ripens slowly. This is zesty and energetic, with zip and perhaps an extra layer of ripeness and creamy texture thanks to the warm vintage. Drink 2022-2027.

The fruit is lemony and bright, and the richness is balanced by a lively acidity, although there is still impressive breadth and density on the palate. This is produced from a number of parcels that total almost 5ha, all exposed to the east between Bussières and Sologny. The 2020 Mâcon-Lilly-Lamartine was the last fruit to be picked in early September according to Dominique Lafon. It has a fresh, quite tensile bouquet with lemon curd and citrus peel, nicely defined and quite vigorous. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and is lightly spiced with a tangy and quite persistent finish. Excellent. Closure: Diam.Neil Martin, Vinous.com (December 2021)
