2019 Ink Grade, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, USA

Description

A beautifully balanced, multi layered wine which oozes complexity on all levels. The magical bouquet draws you in with intense aromas of fresh cassis, pomegranate, forest pine resin and hints of clove. The palate is so well-defined featuring layers upon layers of complexity, mainly intense dark fruits but also notes of mint, candied orange peel and nutmeg. The tannins are finely polished alongside perfectly tuned acidity and an immensely persistent finish. This is a seriously well-crafted wine from one of the most exciting Napa producers.

Critics reviews

Joe Czerwinski 91+/100
Marked by black cherries and cassis aromas, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a fairly muscular effort—not that it's not big or bulky, but it shows plenty of tannic depth and a crisply acidic spine. It should be capable of ageing well, even if it's not hugely pleasurable at this particular instant. It's 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot aged in a mix of oak tanks and barrels.Drink 2025 - 2040Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (March 2023)

So much pine needle, flowers, currants and ripe plums on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine and polished tannins. Linear and very tight with a clarity and energy. Vivid is the word. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or holdjames_suckling, jamessuckling_com (March 2023)

Expressive, with bramble and black licorice notes leading off, followed quickly by fresh black cherry and currant preserves. Features flashes of bay leaf and mesquite on the sleek finish, with a strong mineral underpinning as well.Drink now to 2035James Moleworth, Wine Spectator (November 2023)
