Description

Red cherries and strawberries spearhead the aromas, closely followed by sweet floral notes. Behind the high-toned aromas lies notes of tar, liquorice and candied orange. The palate is framed by Nebbiolo's hallmark tannins but the bracing acidity offers a lovely freshness. I would hold fire on pulling the cork any time soon, to allow the tannins to soften and integrate. Once that happens, I have no doubt of the joy this will provide for the next 15+ years. This should be no surprise as after all, Cerequio was the only first-growth in Barolo when the original classification was drawn up in 1880 by Lorenzo Fantini.

Critics reviews

James Suckling 98/100
Raspberries and flowers and hints of citrus on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with a tight and focused palate of fruit, with tight and firm tannins. Reserved and powerful. Great bottle. Try after 2029.james_suckling, jamessuckling_com (July 2023)
