Description

Youthful and bright, the nose is floral and fun wafting violets and rose petals. The palate is juicy with redcurrants and blueberry then peppercorn spice on the finish. The acid profile and tannin structure will easily support 20 years cellaring. I would suggest opening a bottle in 7-10 years once it has blossomed and showcases those wonderful tertiary characteristics, we love from Syrah such as sweet spice, coffee beans and crispy bacon.

Deep ruby core with a bright purple tint at the rim. Fragrant and lifted with raspberry, dark cherry, musk and peppery spices leaping from the glass. Medium in weight, dark fruits are plump and brightened with a fine line of acidity. All around that core we see a melange of exotic spices and an undertone of nori savouries. Located on the most south-westerly point of Australia, the Margaret River region sprang to life during the 1960s and 1970s as a result of Professor Harold Olmo’s and Dr John Gladstone’s research into its viticultural potential. Vasse Felix was planted in 1967, Moss Wood in 1970 and Cullen in 1971; since then the plantings have grown exponentially, and the number of wineries has increased six-fold.
