2018 Alexandre Bain, Terre d'Obus, Vin de France

The Terre d’Obus is the most floral of Alexandre’s wines, with a pleasing mixture of honeysuckle, lemon pith and white peach on the nose. A lovely straw colour, the palate is richer - candied orange, hazelnut, hawthorn, nectarine and sweet spice. 36 months of ageing in wood has given the wine an almost tannic texture, although the mineral core that runs through it balances this out, leaving a crisp acidity on the finish that reminds you that this wine is indeed made in Pouilly Fumé. Almost reminiscent of Dagueneau, this is a serious wine that will age for quite a few years to come.
