Description

This release is a blend of some of the best vineyards in Barolo. 45% is from Castiglione Falletto’s Scarrone, giving incredible perfume and fine, sweet tannins. The remaining blend comes from Rive, La Morra, which offers a darker fruit profile; and from their four prized vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, giving depth, energy and saline minerality. Francesco’s sensitive winemaking shines through.

Bottled July 2020 'to preserve the fruit flavours'. 18–25 days on the skins. Grapes came from Vignarionda, Scarrone and Rive in La Morra.Just mid ruby and lustrous. A very pretty but shy nose of cherry stones with a peppery tingle and a hint of red bell pepper. Super-elegant palate with a fine yet firm structure. The 2018 Barolo is terrific. In 2018, the Odderos were not completely convinced of the results across all their sites. Ultimately, they blended all of their vineyard designates into the straight Barolo, with the exception of the Brunate and a Riserva from Vigna Rionda. In the glass, their 2018 is captivating. Exotic aromatics, bright red berry fruit and vibrant acids give the 2018 its considerable allure. Vineyard sites are: Fiasco, Bricco Chiesa, Capalot, Bussia, Villero, Rocche di Castiglione and Monvigliero. Look for this to be one of the under the radar gems of the vintage. I loved it.
