Description

Le Petit Calon shows a completely different side to this St Estèphe property. The team uses the fruit from its youngest vines to craft a more fruit-forward, earlier-drinking, Merlot-driven style of Bordeaux to complement the more traditionally austere style of the grand vin. Plummy, red fruit is framed by supple but firm tannins. There’s plenty of fresh acidity from this cooler corner of Bordeaux, and a sprinkling of spice thanks to 15 months in first-fill barrels.
