Description
Perfectly pale ruby in hue, the 2017 Barolo Monprivato opens with a gentle bouquet of little scarlet strawberries with hints of mint and wildflowers. That lightness of touch continues onto the palate where the fruit profile expands to include redcurrants and summer herbs, lovely weight in the mouth with plenty of volume, perfectly balanced by crisp acidity and fine tannins, stamping the assurance that this wine will age well over the next decade and more. A delightfully poised Monprivato, this suits the profile of the vintage perfectly and will drink well from 2023-2035+.

Critics reviews
Walter Speller 17.5/20
Lustrous mid ruby. Concentrated sour cherry with savoury, minerally notes. This opens up beautifully on the nose. Great concentration but also purity. Elegant palate weight and truly long, finely ground tannins that go on forever, but never dominate the fruit while the ripe supple acidity builds a real unity. Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com (December 2021)
Antonio Galloni 93/100
The 2017 Barolo Monprivato is elegant, classy and nuanced. Crushed red berry fruit, spice and blood orange lend and exotic flair to this silky, mid-weight Barolo. The 2017 loses some of its persistence with air, but it offers tons of immediacy and sheer allure. Best of all, the 2017 will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is one of the better recent vintages of Monprivato the Mascarello family has released. antonio_galloni, Vinous.com.com (November 2021)
