2016 Domaine Marie & Pierre Benetière, Cordeloux, Syrah, Vin de France

Known for his traditional methods and minimal intervention, Benetière produces wines that exemplify the purity and complexity of the Syrah varietal. His approach highlights the Northern Rhône’s unique terroir, often utilising indigenous yeasts for fermentation and ageing the wine in older oak barrels to keep its natural character intact.

The 2016 vintage has a deep ruby hue and a rich bouquet of dark fruits, black olives, pepper, and subtle floral notes. You can really taste the influence of the region’s granite and schist soils on the wine’s structure and minerality. On the palate, it offers a harmonious blend of dark fruit flavours, savoury spices, and that distinct minerality, all supported by well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity.
