Utilizing around 40% whole bunch fruit, the 2014 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru has a comparatively rich bouquet with layers of macerated red cherry fruit mixed with blueberry, the new oak coming through in pronounced fashion. The palate is sweet on the entry with grainy tannin, red cherries and wild strawberry, as well as a touch of orange rind with a spice note towards the structured finish that is Mazoyres-like in style. Charmes-Chambertin

Charmes-Chambertin is one of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy, and is also the name of the associated AOC of the wines produced from it. Pinot Noir is by far and away the primary grape grown in Charmes, although as with other Burgundy AOC regulations the wines are permitted up to 15 percent Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris as auxiliary grapes.
