Description

With the packaging designed by the famous Japanese artist Yamaguchi Akira, this blend of traditional oil painting and a contemporary Western feel typifies the innovation that Dr Bill Lumsden brings to this limited edition annual release from Glenmorangie. 

With a deep orange, almost bronze colour, there is a floral herbality and beeswax on the nose, seamlessly transitioning from cedar into cherry wood and a tropical resin on the palate. An elegance and complexity tease through to a most pleasing long finish, the notes of white pepper and fennel reminding you this has some maturation in Mizunara casks and ex-Bourbon and Sherry. 

I’m very much looking forward to revisiting this soon with a box of orange matchmakers, reflecting on a wonderful trip to Tain, and taking some time to see how many Dr Bills I can make out in the artwork.
