Description

This is an exceptional single malt showing delicious waves of ripe and candied fruit. I spent several minutes enjoying the aromas of this venerable whisky as they gently emerged. I found tinned mandarin and pineapple, sweet honeysuckle, scent-laden buddleia and gently stewed apricots in sweet wine syrup. After a time, and through the palate, miniscule wafts of peat appear, adding a sublime touch of leafy balance to this fruity Campbeltown carnival. One of the most delicious bottles I’ve encountered from the Kintyre peninsula, I’ll wager this would taste, somehow, even more glorious approaching the town’s little harbour on calm seas, under early evening sunshine.
