Description

This anticipated annual release from Ardbeg, on Islay’s southern shore, has seen both American oak and ex-Oloroso Sherry cask maturation.

This latest batch shows a particularly spicy and savoury leaning, with walnut oil, flecks of black olive and freshly trimmed privet hedge. With a little air, tarred rope, bay leaves and cocoa powder emerge. This is one for lovers of earthy Islay at its best – I’ll be drinking mine with any dessert containing both chocolate and walnuts.
