Description

Based on the 2019 harvest and its great British summer, our friends at Hambledon Vineyard make this exclusively for us – home to the finest terroir in England. The nose offers orchard fruit crumble and hedgerow flowers. The palate is foaming and complex with white fruits, yellow pear and an appley bite. The finish is distinctly mineral – reminiscent of the chalk soils of Hampshire – but also moreish and very lively. This is the perfect wine for a party, as an apéritif or with fish and chips.

Made for Berry Bros & Rudd by Hambledon Vineyard in Hampshire (the oldest commercial vineyard in the UK), this is a Chardonnay-dominant English sparkler with 2% Pinot Noir and 1% Pinot Meunier. The base is fruit from the 2015 vintage, blended with 5% older reserve wines fermented in oak and aged for 35 months on lees.The result is a stylish fizz with a warm bready note, plus citrus and autumnal orchard fruit aromas. The brisk, fresh palate has lots of personality, with ripe lemon and grapefruit notes, a touch of creamy caramel, focused acidity and a chalky bite, followed by a clean, persistent finish.Drink 2019 - 2024julie_sheppard, Decanter.com
