Description

Leclerc Briant are one of Champagne’s most innovative producers. Organic and biodynamic, they are trailblazers through and through. Their Leclerc Briant Réserve Brut is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay, selected from Premier and Grand Cru villages. It has delicious notes of citrus, green apple, apricot and almond, with a hint of salinity. There is no better place to enjoy it than in the garden, one bottle around the barbecue and another to share under a starry night sky.

Disgorged March of 2023. 4.5 grams per litre dosage.Pouring a bright pale yellow hue, the NV Champagne Reserve Brut is from 2019, with 40% each Pinot Noir and Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. It opens to reveal notes of wet asphalt, ripe white peach, and fresh redcurrant. Medium-bodied and approachable, it has a rounded mid-palate, a chalky and pithy texture with a lively yet fine mousse, and a light note of brûléed grapefruit rind on the finish. Apparently, this is actually Extra Brut, though labelled Brut.Really quite mature nose with a suggestion of wildflowers (the biodynamic effect?). No shortage of acidity!
